Bentley now has 100 metres of living willow tunnels, pathways, domes and arbours to explore, with bridges and tunnels leading onto a small island. Design and planting was done by local artist Jenny Arran.
The willow was planted in two phases - Spring 2006 and 2007. Willow comes in a variety of different colours and there are at least ten different varieties within these pathways and tunnels. Willow is ideal for this sort of planting as it is robust and flexible, grows easily and quickly.
Some new willow structures are planned for spring 2011
Workshop days making garden or sculptural objects from willow are available here at Bentley. Commissions are happily undertaken.
